Stefan Zweig‘s Chess Story was already made into a film by Georg Oswald in 1960 with movie stars such as Curd Jürgens and Mario Adorf. Based on one of Stefan Zweig’s last works reflecting his worsening despair with the situation in Europe, Chess Story is a gripping and multi-layered drama set during WWII.
